Team Belgium ready for the Davis Cup Final 8 in Bologna

Team Belgium is gearing up for the Davis Cup Finals 2025 that takes place from 18 to 23 November in Bologna, Italy. The Lotto Belgian Davis Cup Team will kick off on Tuesday, 18 November, in the quarterfinals against France.

These players are selected:

  • Zizou Bergs (ATP No. 43)
  • Raphaël Collignon (ATP No. 74)
  • Alexander Blockx (ATP No. 101)
  • Sander Gillé (ATP No. 49 doubles)
  • Joran Vliegen (ATP No. 66 doubles)

The team will led by Captain Steve Darcis:
“The ultimate goal is to go as far as possible in this competition. Above all, I want to build the strongest possible team at this moment. In addition to the previously announced players (Zizou, Raphaël, Sander & Joran), Alexander Blockx will join the squad as the fifth player. I wanted to wait until after the Paris tournament and the Bratislava Challenger before making my decision about the fifth player. While I was still thinking about it, David (Goffin) announced that he was ending his season due to his knee injury. That meant I didn't have to think about it much longer, especially since Alexander (Blockx) won the Challenger tournament in Bratislava. He fully deserves his selection. I'm really happy to see that the singles and doubles players who will be going to Bologna are in very good form, as their recent results show. I can't wait to get there, but I would also like to wish David a speedy recovery.”

A victory would see Belgium advance to the semifinals on Friday, 21 November, where they would face either Italy or Austria. The final, where the prestigious 2025 Davis Cup trophy will be contested, is scheduled for Sunday, 23 November.
