Billie Jean King Cup

Mission accomplished for Belgium's Lotto Billie Jean King Cup team. With captain Wim Fissette, Belgium went 3-1 over Hungary in an atmospheric Charleroi Dôme. After the opening day of the Play-Offs, the signs were 1-1, but Belgium finished it off on Sunday. Greet Minnen (WTA 62) beat Anna Bondar (WTA 114) 3/6, 6/3 & 6/4. Yanina Wickmayer (WTA 74) then provided the decisive point: she won 6/2, 6/7 & 6/1 over Dalma Galfi (WTA 136). Thanks to this victory, Belgium may go to the Qualifiers in April 2024.

Billie Jean King Cup 2023

On 11 and 12 November, the next encounter in the Billie Jean King Cup will take place at the Charleroi Dôme. Belgium have not played a match on home soil in this Nations League since 2020. Belgium and Hungary will compete against each other in the Gainbridge Play-Offs. The team that wins will advance to the 2024 'Qualifiers' and have a chance of winning a place in the World Group Finals.

Our Belgian team made tennis history in 2001. For the first time, they took the BILLIE JEAN KING CUP TEAM title with Justine Henin, Kim Clijsters, Els Callens, Laurence Courtois and then-coach Ivo Van Aken. In 2022, the Belgian team could again qualify for the Billie Jean King Cup finals where they did not advance beyond the Groupe stage. In 2023, they will take on Canada in and against Canada for another place at the Billie Jean King Cup Finals.
